This month’s theme for my ATC, artist trading card, group is Sunshine. I can’t think of sunshine without thinking of shadows. And the one thing that says sunshine to me is a peanut butter kiss, they make sunshine in my mouth and make me smile. So, because it was just Halloween I have been hoarding kisses and the papers they are wrapped in. The papers became the base for the cards.
I covered the crinkled waxed paper with black ink and rubbed it off to highlight the crevices. Then I tore them unevenly to make the Ozark hills, used dyed dryer sheets and mulberry paper for the sunkissed sky, added dark tree trunks with the sunlight hitting them. You can see some of the view I see on drives in the fall.
Well not really. The theme for my Arts in The Cards group this month was City Scapes. I could not get inspired beyond anything but the predictable buildings against the skyline. I started with that and they sat on my wet table, eventually that attempt was used on the back of the finished card. I couldn’t let anything go to waste, lol.
About the only thing I like about flying is the view of the city at take off and landing. The trail of headlights and tail lights is fascinating in the patterns they make from thousands of feet in the air.So that is the inspiration for my cards. When seen all together you can see the city with the darker buildings and grayer parking lots. Definitely more me!
My friend Liz House and I took a class on book making at the Hill Country Art Gallery in Mountain Home yesterday. It was a great day out without our hubs. Here are the 2 books I made. They were a lot of fun and I plan to do more. Because our trading card group is small, I plan on making one of these for each month to organize my treasures in an artistic way. These two are for sale in my ETSY shop .
