A glaze of ice and sleet on the roads means a day to stay home from the studio. With more frozen stuff predicted, it may mean more than one day with no studio time. I am thankful there was a warning ahead of time so I brought home some hand stitching. First on my list is finishing a long tunic top from the great Liberty of London fabric I bought in Arthur, Illinois last fall. I’m using a Sew Tina Givens pattern with a difference or two. Always have to break the rules and give it my own twist!

New Look!
Last month a storm ripped the awning off the studio. Thank goodness we hadn’t spent dollars on putting our name on it! The good thing about it was the chance to choose our new awning so we could put our best face forward. After the awning was up, we were thankful for 2 days of warm weather so we could paint the window ledge and front door. Come spring time urns of flowers will complete our makeover. It was just in time. Ice is predicted for us this week!

Altered Book take 2
My book cover is done. It had a coat of matte vanish applied after takng the photo. I also repaired the leaves on the edge. A photo is a great way to discover things that your eye doesn’t always see. Now it is ready for all the wonderful art from the other artists in my book collaboration project. Love how easy it was to put the group together.
Altered book in progress
A few weeks ago I showed you some National Geographic hardcover books I was getting ready for making altered books. Today I finally had some time to start work on them. This is one I have covered the front with pussywillow and cotinus leaves and the back so far is painted. There are more altering plans for this one so I am excited to be working on it.
Getting lost in the Snow
Well, we have no snow so far this year and it has only been cold enough one day to wear a warm scarf. But I always want to be prepared so last year I started this scarf with cotton boucle and odd scraps of bright colors. It was put away unfinshed when it warmed up and I just rediscovered it in a basket while packng and moving the studio. It’s finished and I can guarantee worn with my royal blue quilted coat that I will NOT get lost in the snow.
