SAQA Beyond Comfort

I was so excited to have my quilt, Purification #02,  juried into this SAQA exhibit that will be at the Festival of Quilts, the Butler Museum of American Art and the Henry Ford Museum. I have been waiting for the catalog  to become available for purchase. I can’t wait to get a copy! Hurray!  Its finally here! Here is the link to purchase it on the SAQA website in the store: Beyond Comfort

SAQA auction quilt

This is my first year as an active member of SAQA [Studio Art Quilt Associates] so I wanted to do an art quilt to donate to the yearly auction. My piece is on page 1b HERE

I haven’t heard from anyone that these are secret until the auction opens, so I’m posting it here. This measures 12 x 12 inches.  This isn’t top notch photography so it’s a little wonky. I’ll photograph it again before submitting it to SAQA.

I seem to gravitate to hot colors in most of my work, maybe because I love the sun and heat so much. One time on a Fast Friday Fabric Challenge, Cynthia Morgan challenged me to use any color I wanted EXCEPT oranges and aquas. Wow, that was a tuff one, I met the challenge but soon went back to my own color ways.

SAQA Beyond Comfort

This is a closeup of Purification No.02 which is one of my Sati quilts.  I learned this morning that it was juried into SAQAs  Beyond Comfort exhibit.

The link will take you to the listing of international quilt artists who had worked juried in. The exhibit will premier at Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, UK August 2011.  There are 30 quilts from 26 artists chosen by juror Marci Rae McDade.

Just wanted to share my good news!
