In search of red….

Along the wooded tree line is an ancient pear tree. I have read that the bark will dye reds and the leaves will dye yellow greens. We gathered windfall bark and snipped sucker leaves from the trunk for the dye pot. Our hopes are to bundle the leaves on silk and process in the (hopefully) red dye from the bark. We envision a glorious piece of multi-colored silk. Fingers crossed!

There is also an ancient peach tree so it will be next for the dye pot!
