Its a Giveaway! SAQA Urban Textures

I’m excited that the fabric is hitting stores. To celebrate and toot my own horn a bit, I’m having a giveaway. There will be 2 lucky winners!  I just know that when you see this fabric you will want more, more, more! If you do, it is available at eQuilter . I received a fat quarter packet of all the colors and designs and it is luscious.

There was one little glitch along the way when my name was misspelled on the selvedge. It was corrected on subsequent runs of the print, so if you buy some with “designed by Jane Paine Dawes”, that’s my mom and she had nothing to do with the design of the fabric, she just designed ME! Andover and Daryl, Luana and the whole team were great to work with.

To refresh your memory, here is the quilt I designed with the fabric so you can see the 3 colors. And a picture of some wonderful market bags Andover gifted me from Quilt Market. Each winner will receive one of these great bags and a fat quarter of each of the colors of my design from the collection.  All you have to do is post a comment and tell me what your next quilt project is going to be. Winners will be selected at random on 12/10/2014. By the way, for a free pdf download of my quilt, Out of the Concrete, go here!

Full Urban Textures Quilt @ Market

I wasn’t sure about showing the full view of the quilt I made for market, but saw a couple on FB so assume it is OK to post this now.

I wanted a simple design that would showcase my fabric design and be beginning quilter friendly. Most of the colors come from the diverse value and color shifts of each colorway. There is a solid black, cobalt and red added to the mix.  I love this fabric and hope it sells well at market.

Urban Creep Fabric Design , Oh My!

I was thrilled to get my cuts of my design, Urban Creep,  in the Urban Textures Fabrics Collection from Andover Fabrics. I made a sample quilt for them to take to market. I also had to write instructions and that was not really easy. I don’t know Electric Quilt and I tried . I really tried. So the instructions are what I would use if I was giving a workshop on the quilt.  It is more of a plan than an actual pattern. The fabric is so unique that many quilts out of the fabric using the plan would not look alike.

Here is a close up of one section of the quilt.    The yellow and red are from the same fabric so you can see some of the color shifts and how versatile  each color way can be.  I used a design from Leah Day to quilt the piece with a modern motif.

Urban Textures Fabric collection

At long last, a journey that started nearly a year ago with a call for entry from SAQA has come to an end of sorts. An end that I hope will be a beginning for me.   Through the hard work of Luana Rubin at EQuilter.com and Andover Fabrics, SAQA’s fabric design line named Urban Textures is being pre-sold. It is a stunning collection from 6 SAQA member designers. My design is an edge to edge hombre in 3 colorways which I am showing you below. This began as a photograph of my birdbath so art really can be found all around you. I am so excited and can’t wait to get my hands on the real thing. So many ideas!

The page with the designers’ names has some errors in it but I’m confident that Luana and Andover will get it corrected quickly. The entire collection can be seen on Andover’s website by clicking HERE

****The fabric was originally printed with my name incorrect on the selvdge edge. I was SOOO disappointed. The funny part of it is Jane Paine is my mom. The name on the selvedge originally is Jane Paine-Dawes. They corrected additional runs with my name Janice Paine-Dawes on the selvedge edge.***
